I'm just writing to say thank you for your work - I'm eighteen years old and for the past two years have been on ridiculous diets that have ended up with me putting on weight rather than losing it!
I've never been overweight but have gone through many silly phases. I was vegan for six months and in the end became so ill that I had to stop - but your "diet" (or would lifestyle be a better word?) Is a very good mixture. Most of the dairy is cut out but there is still some meat. My family has been using your book as a bible for the past two months. I used to basically starve myself and then end up binging on fatty, sugary foods but since buying your book have been treating myself to delicious smoothies with a good mixture of sweet vegetables and fruits! I've always been a fan of beans but now my entire family is, too! We have a "bean shelf" with 10 jars of different beans - an array of colours and sizes. It's much prettier and satisfying to look at than a cupboard of horrible packaging.
I'm moving away from my home in a couple of days for university and have found that it's incredibly cheap to buy the foods that you reccommend. I made 2 different Tesco online shopping lists - one for how I would have bought 3 months ago and one for what I'm planning to buy when I leave now. There is an incredible difference. My list is now made up of things like cous cous, quinoa, porridge oats and lots and lots of veggies and herbs - before it would have been chockablock with pasta, bread, rice cakes etc. I've learnt to stop opting for the "healthy eating" items which are just reduced sugar and fat but replaced with lots of chemicals.
I just wanted to say thank you for helping me find the perfect plan for me! I haven't felt the need to binge on unhealthy foods since starting your plan.
After finishing the detox and your 28 day plan we come up with our own meals using yours as a basis. My friends come over after a night out looking for carb fulled nasty food and comment on how green my fridge is! For eighteen years I had never touched fish or seafood and now I find myself cooking either haddock, salmon or lemon sole at least twice a week! It has become a stable part of my diet which nobody I know would have ever thought possible. I'm trying everything and enjoying it all and have realised that we eat for a reason, to give our body the nutrients it needs. I never feel guilty about eating anymore because I know that everything that goes into my mouth and through my body is doing it the world of good.
