How can I obtain Gillian's recipes from the TV show?
You should be able to obtain recipes from Gillian McKeith's new bestselling book, You Are What You Eat COOKBOOK (Penguin, £14.99). There are over 200 delicious and healthy recipes in this ground-breaking CookBook. Some of the recipes for the TV Show may have been slightly modified from this Cookbook. So the recipes in Gillian's Cookbook are the same, or similar or slightly modified from the Show. In addition, Gillian McKeith's other bestselling books contain recipes as well. Check out the first You Are What You Eat book (Penguin, £12.99) and Living Food For Health (Penguin, £7.99). Moreover, Gillian's most recent book, The Ultimate Health Plan (Penguin), contains many new amazing recipes plus 28 days of meal plans.
Where can I find my local colonic irrigation centre?
To locate a colonic therapist in your area, contact the National Association of Colonic Therapists on telephone number 0870 241 6567.
Or go to their Website: www.colonic-association.org
Are Living Food products safe for pregnant women to use?
YES. But always consult with your medical doctor or GP first before embarking upon any nutritional programme.
For her own clients, normally Gillian McKeith recommends the Living Food Energy Powder before pregnancy. Some clients may wish to stop the Living Food Energy Powder during pregnancy. And then start taking the Living Food Energy Powder again in the 8th or 9th month and certainly continue for at least one year after giving birth to strengthen the body and organs.
Living Food Energy Powder is so safe since it is a combination of sprouted seeds and super foods to strengthen the organs and feed the cells.
Are there any organisations I can contact about studying / registering as a nutritionist? Career options?
University of Westminster. Or Institute of Optimum Nutrition (I.O.N. in South London)
There are recipes in the index that are not in the book – maple syrup rice pudding? Is there an amended version of the book waiting to be printed and if so, when will it be available?
Gillian McKeith's You Are What You Eat Cookbook, released in January 2005, contains hundreds of Gillian’s favourite recipes and meal plans. It is an amazingly practical, useful and helpful book.
The hearty lentil soup mentions nothing about hearty lentils actually going into the recipe?!?!
This is being corrected in the next printing of the book. But you may use one tea cup of lentils to three cups of water, bring to the boil and then a low SIMMER for approximately 20 - 30 minutes until Lentils are tender and still firm, but not too soft to mush.
In the index, a recipe says turn to page 186, but there’s nothing there that relates to it?!?
Penguin Publishers has assured us that this is being corrected for new printings of this book.
Contact details / address for Gillian McKeith’s Colonic Irrigation clinic in Hampstead, London please? What are prices / availability s/ recovery time / booking procedure / who does the procedure etc?
Gillian McKeith is not able to take on new clients at this time due to the volume of requests for appointments. We can take your details and refer a nutritionist to you.
Contact details for all clinics that are available for bookings / advice / procedures that are inline with Gilian McKeith’s lifestyle guidelines?
Gillian McKeith is very unique in the world. She has been named as the ‘World’s Most Acclaimed Nutritionist’ (Daily Mail). She has studied for many years in scientific research and years of clinical research with clients at the Clinic. We do not know of specific nutritionists or health practitioners who have her knowledge or experience. Therefore, we do not recommend other practitioners, but we can take your details and refer you to another nutritionist.
Allergy testing – can it be done at customers’ homes?
YES. Our Food Allergy Testing, Homocysteine Test and other biochemical tests are only done at home. We send you the Home Blood Prick Test through the post within a couple days. At home you will do the prick test on your finger where you will draw a drop of blood. It does not hurt. It is just a prick. It is very easy to do. It only takes a couple seconds. Instructions are all included and you really feel virtually nothing. It is so easy.
You will then send the sample through the post to the Lab. You should get your results within two (2) weeks. If you test positive for food intolerances (allergies), you would then be advised to get further tested for the most common either 42 or 113 foods, depending on the situation. If you test negative for food intolerances based on results of the first initial test, then you need not go any further.
General lifestyle questions – would you be able to give me an analysis of my lifestyle via the e-mail CLUB membership? Or would I need a private consultation?
a) PRIVATE CONSULTATIONS for new clients are not possible at this time with Gillian McKeith.
b) The purpose of the BOOK, You Are What You Eat, is so that Gillian’s information can be made accessible to everyone, not just the few. So please read the book thoroughly a couple of times, and then use it throughout your life every day for your new lifestyle.
c) For further information, get Gillian’s other book, Living Food For Health (Piatkus Publishers, £7.99).
d) Use our WEBSITE each week for additional support. Gillian will be constantly adding new information, new studies, new recipes and meal plans, biochemical tests and more onto the Website. So use it for support, guidance and help for your life.
e) If you join the GILLIAN'S MEMBERS CLUB, then you will be able to get responses to your questions and comments. This is the only way that we are able to manage the immense volume of requests. Please be kind and understanding in this matter. Please also understand that our responses on the Club Forums must be of a general nature and not specific personalised health issues, as we cannot diagnose or treat any client via the Internet. Please expect to receive responses within s 2-3 days on the forum for Club Members.
How do people go about adding themselves onto the 2 year waiting list for a consultation? Info and prices etc please?
Please understand that the Waiting List was at 2-years before the television show started. Now that the TV and book are out, the response is overwhelming with literally hundreds of calls and emails every day requesting consultations with Gillian McKeith. As you can imagine, it is not possible for one person to see everyone. But that was the reason that she wanted to write the book, You Are What You Eat. In this way the book will provide you with many years of her scientific and clinical research.
Even if you came to consult with her at the Clinic, much of what she would do with you, perhaps 80% to 90% is now available online by using Gillian's Personal Health Profiles. This is Gillian’s best personalised advice to you based on a detailed questionnaire. VIsit the Personal Health Profile website, for further support. Keep watching the television show on Channel 4 for inspiration. Get her other book, Living Food For Health, for further guidance and more information, more recipes, more help.
Are there any local meetings or sessions being held in my area by Gillian McKeith or her team?
No, not at this time. But this is being discussed. We will post such concept on the Website if and when direct local support groups are organised.
Queries on the free 7 day meal planner:
a) Is it a detox diet?
No, it is not a detox diet. Gillian does not do diets. Gillian provides you with a whole new lifestyle for your entire life. The 7 – day Meal Plans are just an example of how to organise your average day. Once you have mastered these 7 days, you can then start to substitute different foods to create new dishes and new recipes, provided that all of the foods you are using come from the Abundant Food List on pages 82–84. So if a recipe calls for a Mung Bean Casserole, for example, you may eventually substitute Pinto Beans for the Mung Beans to make a Pinto Bean Casserole. You will then be able to ultimately substitute some of the veggies for other vegetables, and so too the herbs, seasonings and so on. But your foods must come from the Abundant Food List.
If you wish to do a Detox, then refer to Chapter 5 (Clean Out), pages 126 – 153 for the Gillian McKeith One Day Detox in the book, You Are What You Eat.
This Detox should be done on a weekend when you’re not working, and you could do it once or twice each month.
b) I'm suffering from headaches – is this normal?
Most people feel exceedingly well after just a few days or weeks on the Gillian Lifestyle Plan. But Gillian does talk about the possibility of a ‘healing crisis’ experienced by a few clients. If there is a drastic change made quickly to the client’s lifestyle, it is not unexpected that certain unpleasant changes may take place, especially if the client was suffering from toxicities. Headaches, spots, pimples, skin rashes, itching, lots of poo or the runs just to name a few, are ways that the body may expel or deal with unwanted matter. These unpleasant symptoms need not be feared; just notice them. Unpleasant symptoms are rare and should not continue for more than a few days or a week or so. Thereafter, the client should experience improved and enhanced health and vibrancy. Nonetheless, always consult with your medical doctor or GP before embarking upon any nutritional programme and especially if you are experiencing any unpleasant symptoms.
c) Are there any known side effects with following this diet?
McKeith does not advocate diets of any sort as they are very restrictive by calories, carbs or whatever. Diets generally make people feel unwell because they restrict so many nutrients and co-factors. McKeith has found that in the long-term, diets do not work. She proposes a whole new lifestyle Plan that works wonders. The only side effect: Enhanced and Improved Health.
Where can I buy some of the more unusual foods that Gillian McKeith recommends?
First, 80% to 90% of the foods in the Abundant Food List on pages 82 -84 should be available at all major supermarkets throughout the UK.
For the remaining 10% or so foods not available in the supermarkets, you may contact your local health food store or Holland & Barrett.
If you are still having a problem, then go to our online product shop.
For our own range of nutritional supplements, vitamins and minerals please feel free to check our online product shop.
What kind of fresh fish does Gillian McKeith recommend?
Gillian is fine with either fish from salty or fresh water. Most important is that the fish should be wild, and not farmed. The next most important factor is that the fish should be from less polluted waters such as the outer-Hebrides of Scotland or from Iceland.
How can I best use the book, You Are What You Eat?
Gillian wants you to first read the book from cover to cover TWICE. In this way, you will get a good idea of what’s in the book and where to find it. Then after you have read the book two times, start to use it every single day as your living workbook. Take the book everywhere and use it throughout each and every day. Take it shopping to the supermarket, to the health food store, the pharmacy. Use it in the kitchen for recipes and always have it by your side. Feel free to fold over pages and write notes in it if necessary.
This book is your new Gillian McKeith Lifestyle for the rest of your life!
How do I follow the Macrobiotic Diet?
Follow the Plan in Gillian’s book, You Are What You Eat. Many elements of the Plan have their origins in macrobiotics.
Does Gillian McKeith do any Lectures or Public Speaking events?
YES. We will post the next set of public workshops on the Website in due course.
Any guidelines for vegetarians? Do you recommend eating Quorn?
Follow the Plan in the book. Get Gillian’s other book too, Living Food For Health (Piatkus Publishers). Quorn is fine now and again. Pure unadulterated foods, fresh raw fruits and vegetables, beans, grains, pulses, legumes, raw unsalted seeds and nuts are best.
I am underweight but am interested in your guidelines. I don't want to lose any more weight - is it safe to follow the diets?
Gillian’s Lifestyle Plan will generally bring about balance and harmony to the body.
This means that if you are overweight, then you undoubtedly should be able to easily lose the weight that your body needs to. If you are underweight, your body should be able to come to a weight that is right for you. Gillian says, ‘Stop worrying about underweight and overweight, and just do the Plan. You will be better, healthier and happier for it, and your body would look good too.’
Should the energy powder be eaten as a replacement for meals or in addition to bean sprout diet?
The Living Food Energy Powder is used as a meal replacement if you are seeking quick weight loss. But the real reason for Living Food Energy Powder is to use it as the most advanced nutritional foundation. It contains every vitamin, mineral, amino acid, proteins, co-factors, healing herbs, super foods and sprouted seeds for live active enzymes. It is also strengthening to the organs, and nourishing to the cells. Thus, it should be taken every day for energising the organs and body.
