Statement From McKeith Research Ltd on Advertising Standards Authority
McKeith Research Ltd (MRL) and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have been in open dialogue for the use of the title 'Dr' in print advertising, with regards to the concern that the public may assume she is a Medical Doctor. The ASA received one complaint. MRL and the ASA have agreed however to remove the prefix ‘Dr’ on print advertising.
Gillian McKeith has never claimed to be a Medical Doctor.
MRL would like to confirm that Gillian McKeith holds a Doctorate degree having earned a PhD in Holistic Nutrition after 4 years of study, coursework and dissertation, which does entitle her to use the denotation of ‘Dr’.
The informal agreement reached with the ASA pertains to future print advertising under our control.
MRL has co-operated fully with the ASA.
