Dear Gillian,
I bought your recipe book and âYou Are What You Eatâ about a month ago. Iâd lost 30 lbs on my own, and wanted to take control of my health more. I donât have high blood pressure, and my cholesterol is ârock starâ as my doctor says, but I knew I wasnât healthy enough. Iâd been looking for a book to tell me WHY I should be eating foods, what does what for me, for a long, long time.
Unfortunately everything out there seems to be saying ridiculous things (no calories! no carbs! no fat! donât eat fruit itâs high in sugar!) and I didnât want to go blindly down the dangerous road of not eating some things which I knew perfectly well were good for me, just because some random person told me not to. Iâve always wanted to know how to eat NUTRITIONALLY, not low-fat, etc.
I started my ânew nutritional lifeâ about a month ago, and while I donât eat 100% the way the book says, I do do it about 80-90% of the time, and I feel FANTASTIC! I took out my scale for the first time in a few weeks (after reading that weight really shouldnât be a focus on my getting healthier, which I totally agree with) and found that Iâd lost 5 lbs in JanuaryâŠ
So, I guess what I really wanted to say is I think this whole way of life makes a lot of sense, and Iâm even encouraging others in my office to get healthy too. One of my co-workers now has the two books I have and sheâs noticed a difference. Iâve started a walking club at work, and weâve walked almost 40kms so far. Personally, Iâve walked almost 300kms in the past 1.5 months.
Iâm on my way to a new me, and I owe a lot of it to Gillian! Iâm a Gillian Girl!
